Summer Cabin

The summer house which dates back to the 1960s is located on the beautiful island of Tjörn on the Swedish west coast. All internal walls are cladded in pine panels which over time have yellowed and gotten a patina. Thanks to careful consideration of natural light, the ceiling was originally designed much higher than most houses that were built during this time. This aspect together with the generously big windows in two latitudes, provides the house with plentiful light.

The biggest challenge here was to find a way to make the yellow pine less dominant and to bring a sense of calm to the colours and interior. Selected walls were painted in earthy tones and detailed woodwork were painted in a more abstract colour to make these pop. Together this helped take the focus from the pine. For furniture and interior details we have worked with natural material like linen, bamboo, non treated wood and metallic details to further enhance the balanced feeling. The concept flirts with a mix of Scandinavian, Japanese and

French country style. It is a summer house with a touch of luxury which also invites you to feel comfortable and to relax.
